Grand Smithy Works (GSW) was founded in 1942 by the late B.C. Agarwala, the grandfather of Mr. Shiv Kumar Agarwala. Initially, until 1952, GSW primarily focused on industrial and disposable scrap within India. The late Yudhisthir Lal Agarwala, son of B.C. Agarwala, was a pioneer in the iron and steel scrap industry in India, and in 1952, he initiated the first-ever export of scrap to Japan.
